cbd oil for dogs

Pet owners and dog owners in particular want the very best for their furry friends. We want them to be happy and healthy, and we'll do whatever it takes to ensure their well-being. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in using CBD oil for dogs, as well as hemp seed oil for dogs. But what are the benefits of these oils, and what do pet owners have to say about their effectiveness? We take a closer look.

CBD oil for dogs and hemp seed oil for dogs are two different products with distinct differences

CBD oil is extracted from the flowers and leaves of the hemp plant, and it contains cannabidiol (CBD) as its primary active ingredient. CBD oil is known for its potential health benefits, such as reducing inflammation, relieving anxiety, and managing pain in both humans and animals. CBD oil can be used to manage several health conditions in dogs, such as arthritis, anxiety, seizures, and digestive problems.

Hemp seed oil, on the other hand, is made by cold-pressing the seeds of the hemp plant. It does not contain CBD, but it is rich in essential fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals, such as omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, vitamin E, and zinc. Hemp seed oil is often used in dog foods and treats to promote healthy skin and coat, improve heart health, and support digestion.

In summary, CBD oil and hemp seed oil for dogs have different active ingredients and potential benefits. CBD oil is used to manage specific health conditions, while hemp seed oil is used to promote overall health and wellness. It is important to consult with your veterinarian before giving your dog any supplement, including CBD oil or hemp seed oil, to ensure that it is safe and appropriate for your pet's individual needs.

CBD Oil for Dogs

CBD as we well know is a compound found in the cannabis sativa group of plants. Unlike THC, another compound found in cannabis, CBD is not psychoactive and does not produce a "high" in humans or animals. CBD oil is derived from hemp plants and is extracted and distilled to ensure it has less than 0.3% THC, making it legal and safe for dogs to consume.

CBD oil has been found to have a variety of health benefits for dogs. It can help with pain, anxiety, seizures, inflammation, and digestive issues. Many pet owners have reported that CBD oil has helped their dogs with conditions such as arthritis, cancer, and separation anxiety. Of course, far more research is needed, much like for human studies, but the testimonials and reviews are hugely promising.

Hemp Seed Oil for Dogs

Hemp seed oil is made from the seeds of the hemp plant and does not contain CBD. However, it is still a valuable supplement for dogs. Hemp seed oil is rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which are essential for maintaining a healthy coat and skin. It can also help with joint health, digestion, and cardiovascular health.

Benefits of CBD Oil and Hemp Seed Oil for Dogs

CBD oil and hemp seed oil have a range of potential benefits for dogs, but do differ greatly in their uses.

Pain relief: CBD oil has been found to be effective in reducing pain and inflammation in dogs with conditions like arthritis.

FAQS

What is CBD?

CBD, or cannabidiol, is a compound found in the cannabis plant. It is one of many cannabinoids found in the plant, and it does not produce the psychoactive effects associated with THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a complex network of receptors and neurotransmitters that is present in all mammals. It plays a role in regulating a variety of physiological and cognitive processes, including pain, memory, mood, appetite and more. Check out our blog on The ECS here for more information.

But what is the Endocannabinoid System?

The ECS is made up of two main receptors: CB1 and CB2. CB1 receptors are primarily found in the central nervous system, while CB2 receptors are found in the immune system and other tissues. The body's own endocannabinoids, such as anandamide and 2-arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG), bind to these receptors and activate them.

CBD can interact with the ECS by inhibiting the breakdown of endocannabinoids, such as anandamide, which can lead to an increase in their levels. CBD can also bind to and activate CB2 receptors, although it does so less effectively than THC. CBD can interact with the ECS and is thought to be responsible for some of its therapeutic effects, such as its ability to reduce inflammation and reduce anxiety.

How much CBD oil should I take?

So this brings us full circle to the heading of the blog post. Well to be honest, ultimately it depends. If you are a new user, we would typically suggest trying a CBD isolate oil and going for a small dosage in the region of 10mgs. You can then build this up over the following days and weeks to test your tolerance and see how your body reacts up to a limit of 70mg. We always remind people that you can dose far higher than this, and there are studies that have supported its safety profile as high as 1500mg per day, but we would certainly not suggest anyone to do that!

I’ve taken CBD in small doses before but now I want to try CBD for anxiety, so what do you suggest?

For a more seasoned CBD user, we might suggest trying a broad spectrum of full spectrum CBD oil but would still look to start small with a dosage in the 10-25mg category. This allows any user to build up overtime and to really test how the CBD interacts with your body and if it really aids your sleep.

Can I take CBD everyday?

Yes, you can take CBD everyday and in fact building up CBD in your system overtime can give some of the greatest benefits as opposed to one-off dosages.

Which CBD Oil is best?

We like to think variety is an important factor, and that is one reason at Associated CBD we try to hold a wide variety of CBD strengths, types and products! There is no best CBD out there, it is about what works best for you and your body.
